Vernon Hills

Vernon Hills is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,120 at the 2000 census, and 25,113 at the 2010 census. Vernon Hills serves as a retail hub for its surrounding area (Libertyville, Lake Forest, Mundelein, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove).
As of the census of 2010, there were 25,113 people, 9,001 households, and 5,312 families residing in the village. The population density was 3,258 people per square mile. There were 9,956 housing units at an average density of 1,051.7 per square mile (406.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 71.4% White, 19.3% Asian, 2.2% African American, and 0.1% Native American. 2.1% are from other races, and 2.1% from two or more races. 11.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 9,001 households out of which 26.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59% were married couples living together, 8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30% were non-families. 25% of all households were made up of individuals and 6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.24.

In the village the population was spread out with 29% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 37% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 94 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90 males.

According to a 2010 Census data, the median income for a household in the village was $87,494. Males had a median income of $54,807 versus $39,136 for females. The per capita income for the village was $40,411. About 3.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.0% of those under age 18 and 6.8% of those age 65 or over.
